Sheep Handmade Ceramic Serving Bowl, Blue with Black Sheep

Handmade ceramic sheep bowl made by the lead shepherd at Point of View Farm Finnsheep. This is a bowl is glazed in food safe glazes so you can use it for display or serving our favorite food. Cute little black sheep on the inside bottom. Signed on the underside. The bowl measures 10 inches in diameter and 3.25 inches tall.

This bowl is a one of a kind ceramic piece, glazed in a glossy bluish on the outside that has rust and green undertones (very neat glaze). Inside it is clear glaze which features nice crazing lines and the dark sheep on the bottom. Where the two glazes overlap at the rim it is warm brown (looks like majolica brown) and on the outside that runs into this interesting rainbow effect. I took lots of photos of that as it is super neat. You usually only see things like that happen in a high fire gas kiln. It is dishwasher and food safe. With care, it will last centuries.

CaraLeigh made the bowl on a potter’s wheel in the Hudson Valley region of NY, trimmed it and then made the sheep design inside. There will never be another bowl exactly like this one as nothing is molded or manufactured…it is all entirely unique and hand made….and it is all a New York product (even the clay and glazes were purchased in NY).
