Handmade ceramic sheep bowl made by the lead shepherd at Point of View Farm Finnsheep. This is a bowl is glazed in food safe glazes so you can use it for display or serving our favorite food. Cute little sheep made of raised clay on the bottom of the inside of the bowl. Signed on the underside. The bowl portion measures 9.25 inches in diameter and 5 inches tall.
This bowl is a one of a kind ceramic piece, glazed in a glossy bluish on the outside that has rust and green undertones (very neat glaze that verges on color shifting). Inside it is clear glaze over the light grey speckled clay which features nice crazing lines. Where the two glazes overlap at the rim it is warm brown (looks like majolica brown). It is dishwasher and food safe. With care, it will last centuries. I kinda love ceramics for that quality.
CaraLeigh made the bowl on a potter’s wheel in the Hudson Valley region of NY, trimmed it and then made the sheep design inside. There will never be another bowl exactly like this one as nothing is molded or manufactured…it is all entirely unique and handmade….and it is a New York made product, at a New York Ceramics Studio with supplies purchased from a New York ceramics supply. Your purchase helps support not only the farm but, all these other businesses which are connected to this piece as well. Thank you for that.
