This is a beautiful naturally grey 70% Finnsheep lamb and 30% French Angora Bunny 2 ply yarn. It is 150 yards and 4 ounces. This is a lofty soft very warm yarn with very little luster. It is millspun but, has a handspun look to it. It will develop a slight halo to it with washing and use. I knit a hat using a skein and the recipient loves it. It is warm with good memory and light to wear.
French Angora rabbits were my very first personal fiber animal many years ago. Smokey (grey) and Snowy (white) were given to me when their owner found their coats severely matted. She and her young children could not look after them (angoras require lots of grooming care).
This yarn was made with some of Smokey and Snowy’s precious angora fiber while at Point of View Farm. A mill in CT spun this yarn for us. The angoras have passed on from old age and so this is the last of a yarn like this until we find some beautiful angora bunnies to join our farm again or a local angora breeder who is interested in partnering on a batch of yarn.
This yarn is pure happiness in my opinion. The mills charge extra to blend a fine fiber like angora into the wool for yarn. It is very much worth it in our opinion because it results in a very special yarn that is super fancy.
