This is a beautiful naturally brown 100% finnsheep wool yarn. It is a fingering weight 2 ply, 150 yards, 1.6 – 1.8 ounces per skein.
This wool was spun into yarn at a small US mill. This particular batch of yarn has slubs in it, those are lumps of thicker yarn which give it some texture. It kinda makes it look like handspun yarn but, it is not. A friend of the farm knit a sweater out of this and it looked fabulous. I’m not sure what happened that the slubs developed as we have never had a batch of yarn like it since. When this batch of yarn is all gone, I will miss it. Being fingering weight, it is also the right thickness for socks, if you desire 100% wool socks.
The finnsheep wool in this yarn was bred, born, raised and shorn entirely at Point of View Farm Finnsheep. These ewes are specifically selected for top quality fiber to produce the most luxurious of yarns. The Point of View Farm flock is pasture raised in the Hudson Valley region of New York and given the utmost in care and love. We know happy healthy sheep produce beautiful fiber. The pastures they graze are never treated with synthetic chemicals. Only compost from our own farm. The mill uses mild soap to clean the wool and not harsh detergents. This keeps the wool soft, lofty and ‘healthy’ for your special project.
Enjoy the goodness of local yarn bought directly from the shepherd who raised the wool. Your purchase helps support our farm. Thank you.
